Medical Card
Dental Treatment Services Scheme (DTSS)
Eligibility
The Dental Treatment Services Scheme (DTSS) is a scheme for the provision of dental services to all medical cardholders over the age of 16.
Services
Under the DTSS, eligible patients, i.e. adult medical cardholders may choose to attend a general dental practitioner of their own choice who is participating in the scheme.
Due to recent government changes (April 2010) available free treatment is now limited to an examination once a year. Other treatment is available only on an emergency basis. All cleaning and gum treatments have been suspended.
For further information on the scheme, and information regarding participating dentists, patients should contact their local Health Board Principal Dental Surgeon.
